Founded in 1976 by Richard Scott, R & A Scott Auto Services Ltd has become one of the area’s leading commercial vehicle engineering companies. Joined by his brother, Andrew, a year later and becoming limited in 1982 the family owned and run Gainsborough business is still going from strength to strength. Offering some of the most modern facilities in the area allowing a comprehensive range of services to be provided utilising the latest technology and tooling together with a large stock of replacement and genuine parts for most applications. Coupled with a loyal staff who’s enthusiasm is second to none and training that is being constantly updated and this enables the company to keep pace with the ever changing needs of vehicle repair and maintenance.

Initially acquiring the ERF Truck franchise in 1986 leading to successful transition to the MAN Truck & Bus franchise in 2005, the company still holds this status today and has won multiple awards. They can offer service, repair, maintenance and component provision for virtually any vehicle from a small car to a 44 ton H G V.

These factors allow R & A Scott to maintain its position as one of the areas leading commercial vehicle engineers, providing maintenance and repair facilities for a diverse customer base ranging from the general public and single commercial vehicle operators to national fleet operations and local government departments.

Since the business was founded the team has grown substantially and is currently run by Richard’s son, Gavin. The workshop is organised by Carl Spicksley and the split shifts are headed by shift foremen and long standing members of staff, Howard Holgate and Lee Staniforth. Opening hours have also expanded and are currently 7:30am until  Midnight Weekdays and 7:30am until 1pm Saturdays with a 24hr 7 day call-out service. These hours provide the company with the ability to service commercial vehicles ‘out of hours’ cutting the expense of down time for their operators. The modern class 4 & 7 M.O.T. bay, for cars and light commercials, has also proved to be a triumph with a further two fully equipped bays for car and light commercial servicing and repairs.

As well as the full repair and maintenance facilities the company also offers regular express parts delivery. The well stocked parts department, headed by manager David Goodwin, offers a full range of genuine and alternative vehicle components not just for MAN, but also for all makes vehicles and trailers.

These services and the reputation of the company have enabled the business to develop and grow over the last 45 years to its current position. With the new ventures and continuing support from MAN Truck and Bus the company can only continue to go from strength to strength.
